Trail Blazers. Bio D Making a Positive Difference.

In each issue of Natural Trade News we feature one of our suppliers to give you an in depth look at the brand and the people behind it.  Here, Denise Barrett discovers more about the eco friendly household cleaning brand, Bio D. 

The BIO-D COMPANY never stands still. They were the first to market in the household sector with packaging made from 100 % recycled material and they’ve come a long way since. Together with household-name brands like Nestlé, Coca-Cola and Unilever, they have recently signed up with The New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.  Spearheaded by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in collaboration with UN Environment, the 250 or so organisations taking part all aim to eliminate single-use plastics from their operations and invest in new technology so that their entire packaging can be recycled by 2025. Bio-D are already way down the line with that pledge.

Bio-D ticks all the boxes with their comprehensively ethical products that are uniquely tough but gentle. What’s more, their stylish containers are designed to sit smartly on your shelves and in your customers’ homes. The range covers Household, Laundry, Personal Care (pictured) and Bathroom.  The ethos though is all-inclusive: Bio-D are committed to making cleaning products that don’t cost the earth while helping consumers contribute to a more sustainable planet. For this, they only use ingredients that are naturally derived or plant based, are environmentally responsible and vegan friendly. Products are cruelty free and free from synthetic dyes, preservatives, enzymes and synthetic perfumes and the fragrance free laundry range is hypoallergenic and accredited by Allergy UK. All this worthiness – but with products that are a delight to use and make housework so much more enjoyable!

Fuelled by Tea

Lloyd Atkin, MD of Bio-D is adamant about championing independent retailers, encouraging customers to support them too. He’s proud that all Bio-D products 
are made in the UK at their factory in Hull, guaranteeing complete traceability on ingredients. We asked Lloyd if he has a favourite Bio-D product: “Laundry Bleach. It’s gentle but effective and has some surprising uses, such as getting tea-stained mugs looking like new again. And here at HQ, we drink a lot of tea!”​
